Monroe County DHS-Economic Assistance

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, provides a monthly benefit to help low income families purchase the foods they need for their health.

SNAP is a federal program administered at the local level by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

From the beginning, SNAP was the largest project in the country's hunger safety net.

SNAP is intended to complement a person's income to ensure nutritional needs are met.

Mississippi residents who are food insecure are invited to apply to the program.
