The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, provides monthly subsidies to help low-income families buy the healthy foods they need.

SNAP is a federal program administered locally by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

At the national level, SNAP is the largest hunger safety net programme in the country.

The Memorandum is intended to be a supplement to the European Employment Pact and to help ensure that this issue is also a priority in that Pact.
