Hancock County DHS-Economic Assistance

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, provides monthly subsidies to help low-income families buy the healthy foods they need.

SNAP is a federal program administered at the local level by the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

At the national level, SNAP is the largest programme in the national safety net against hunger.

SNAP is intended as a supplement to one's own income to help ensure that nutritional needs are met.

Mississippi residents affected by food insecurity are urged to apply for the programme.

Help is available for those who have difficulty putting food on the table.
